What it is: PanoMatrix has developed a novel Activated Cellulose Crystal™ material isolated from the ivory palm nut. This naturally sourced biopolymer has distinctive properties as a water-based ingredient for cosmetic and cosmeceutical skincare applications as well as chronic wound care. The company has scaled up production and has launched sales for skincare applications to distributors. PanoMatrix has completed successful preclinical studies as well as numerous volunteer human studies for indications that include diabetic foot ulcers, atopic dermatitis (eczema), acne, and minor wounds.
The product performs well as a water-based moisturizer for dry or oily skin, as well as relief from itching, burning, or irritated skin, and it is safe for very sensitive skin. It is highly charged and forms a moisture-locking protective barrier on contact with skin. Activated Cellulose Crystals™ also showed anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activities in studies, as well as a scaffold for skin regeneration.
What we did: I identified the technology and the business opportunity, formed the Company as CEO, brought the inventor to the USA from Quito, Ecuador, raised the initial equity investment and non-dilutive capital, assembled the board of directors, and found the lab location. I participated actively in the product development and formulation strategies and in the writing of the non-provisional patent application, as well as the market strategy, successful partnership and negotiations with the first customer distributors, and now more ongoing business partnerships. PanoMatrix is also developing medical applications. Our current business model is to manufacture and sell finished formulations to premium cosmetics and cosmeceutical product companies.
